As someone deeply passionate about digital marketing, I've spent over 15 years honing my craft specifically in the travel and tourism industry. My journey began with an MCom in Tourism Management from the University of Pretoria. But really, that was just the start. Over the years, I've not only expanded my digital marketing skills but also dabbled in photography, website development, and content creation, all fuelled by my work in promoting the Franschhoek Wine Valley - a gem in the Western Cape and a significant part of my career for a decade.
In 2012, I took a leap into freelancing, with the Franschhoek Wine Valley transitioning from my full-time focus to a valued client. This shift opened the door to collaborations with various brands, each with its unique place in the tourism industry.
Another significant chapter began in 2018 when I moved from the vibrant Cape Winelands to the serene town of Hoedspruit, set against the backdrop of the Greater Kruger area. This move wasn't just a change of scenery; it marked my foray into the safari sector. Since then, I've been privileged to work with the Selous Safari Company (now known as Laba Laba), helping promote their Southern Camps in Tanzania, and the Selati Wilderness Foundation on their website and special conservation projects. My involvement extends to supporting efforts in combating wildlife crime through Insight and managing social media for Shumbalala Game Lodge in Thornybush Game Reserve. More recently, I've joined forces with Umndeni Africa and Compass Odyssey for social media, and I'm crafting itineraries and updating websites for Nature Connexion - an array of projects that keep me inspired and busy.
Alongside my core focus in digital marketing and conservation, I've also recently founded Tania Steyn Designs, a venture where I channel my expertise into surface pattern design. This aspect of my work draws inspiration from my life in Hoedspruit, reflecting the vibrant essence of the African wilderness. This venture is an extension of my professional portfolio, where safari-inspired patterns become a medium for storytelling and connecting with others through design. Each piece is a careful blend of creativity and my deep-rooted love for Africa, crafted to bring a sense of adventure and natural beauty into various spaces. I currently sell my designs in the US via Spoonflower.
When I'm not immersed in digital marketing or designing, you'll likely find me hitting the trails or capturing life through my camera lens. One of my most unforgettable adventures was a journey from Cape Town to Cairo on a modest 200cc Chinese motorbike. Along with my husband, we explored 11 African countries over three thrilling months - a vivid reminder of my love for adventure and the extraordinary experiences that life offers, elements I strive to weave into my professional life.
I believe in creating connections, sharing stories, and inspiring others to embark on their own unforgettable journeys, whether through the lens of tourism, conservation, or simply the pursuit of adventure.
I would love to hear from you. Please contact me if you would like to collaborate.
